The Complete Guide to Candy Quest: Match-3 Strategy, Special Candies & Boosters
Learn how the match-3 board works, how striped, wrapped and color-bomb candies are forged, and the level-clearing habits that earn 3 stars.

1. How Matching Works
Candy Quest boards grow from 7×7 to 9×9 as you climb the 3,000 levels. Swap two adjacent candies; if the swap lines up 3 or more of one color in a row or column, they pop, survivors fall down, and fresh candies refill from the top — often chaining into cascades that multiply your score. Swaps that match nothing bounce back and never cost a move.
Every level hands you a shopping list (for example: 10 red, 10 yellow, 10 blue) plus a move budget. Collect every target before the counter hits zero. Leftover moves, cascades and special-candy blasts push your score toward the 2- and 3-star thresholds.
2. Forging Special Candies
- Striped (match 4): clears its entire row or column when detonated. Horizontal matches forge horizontal stripes and vice versa.
- Wrapped (L/T match): explodes twice into the surrounding 3×3 square — perfect for packed boards.
- Color Bomb (match 5): swap it with any candy to wipe every candy of that color; swap two bombs to clear the whole board.
- Jelly Fish (2×2 square): three gummy fish swim to clear 3 obstacle tiles or random candies when detonated.
- Coconut Wheel (match 6+): rolls across a row or column turning 3 candies into striped candy blasts.
Specials chain: any striped, wrapped or bomb caught in a blast detonates too. Set up crossings where one explosion feeds the next for board-wiping combos.
3. Mega Combinations (Section 8)
- Striped + Striped: cross-laser blast clearing an entire row AND column simultaneously.
- Striped + Wrapped: mega blast clearing 3 rows × 3 columns at once.
- Wrapped + Wrapped: devastating 5×5 double explosion in the center of the board.
- Bomb + Striped: turns ALL candies of that color into striped and fires every one!
- Bomb + Wrapped: turns ALL candies of that color into wrapped (3×3) and detonates them!
- Bomb + Bomb: wipes the ENTIRE board clear in one shot.
- Fish + Striped/Wrapped: 3 fish swim and detonate line blasts or 3×3 explosions at their targets.
4. Boosters & When to Spend Them
- Hammer: smashes one stubborn candy — save it for targets trapped far from matches.
- Swap: exchanges any two neighbours even without a match — use it to assemble a match-5.
- Lollipop: clears a whole color at once — best spent on your scarcest target color.
- Magic Hand: auto-plays the strongest available move when you cannot see one.
5. Three Habits of 3-Star Players
- Play low on the board. Matches near the bottom refill more of the grid and trigger longer cascades.
- Chase 4s and 5s, not 3s. A single striped candy outscores three plain matches once it detonates.
- Count your outs. With 5 moves left and 8 reds to go, stop building specials and farm red directly.
6. All Obstacles & Blockers

Patience and Specials Win Levels
Candy Quest rewards patience: forge specials early, detonate them late, and spend boosters only when they convert directly into targets. Stuck on a brutal level?
