Code Formatting

A formatter rewrites code with consistent indentation so a human can read it; a minifier removes every byte a machine does not need so it downloads faster. They are opposites, and mixing them up is the most common mistake — minifying code you are about to debug, or shipping formatted code to production.

Format for reading

Pick by the language you are pasting. All of these take messy or single-line input and return indented, consistently-styled output, and all run in the browser so proprietary source never leaves your machine. Use the XML formatter rather than the HTML one when the input is a feed, config, or SOAP response.

Minify for shipping

Use these on the final build output, never on source you still need to read. Minification strips whitespace and comments, so always keep the original file — and check the minified result still runs before you deploy it.

Match patterns and generate values

The Regex Tester shows match groups live so you can debug a pattern before it reaches production. The Cron Parser turns an expression into plain English and lists the next run times, which is faster than counting fields. The UUID Generator produces RFC-4122 identifiers for keys and fixtures.
