Frequently Asked Questions
How does the habit tracker work?
Add habits you want to track, optionally assign a category and a weekly target, then check them off each day. Your progress is automatically saved to your browser's local storage, so it persists between sessions.
What is a streak?
A streak counts how many consecutive days you've completed a habit, starting from today and going backwards. The tracker also records your best (longest) streak ever, so you can aim to beat your personal record.
What do categories and colors do?
Categories (Health, Productivity, Learning, etc.) let you group and filter habits so you can focus on one area at a time. Each habit also gets a custom color so it is easy to spot on the monthly calendar heatmap.
Can I add notes to a specific day?
Yes. Click the note icon next to any day cell to add a short note for that habit on that date — useful for logging how you felt, what you did, or why you missed a day.
What is the monthly calendar view?
Toggle to Month view to see a full calendar heatmap of the month. Colored cells mark days you completed the habit, so you can spot patterns and gaps at a glance. Navigate between months and years with the arrow controls.
How is progress calculated?
Weekly progress shows what percentage of the current week you have completed. The 30-day completion rate shows how often you did the habit over the last 30 days, which is a stable measure of consistency.
Can I export or back up my habits?
Yes. Use the Export button to download a JSON file of all your habits, notes, and completion dates. Use Import to restore from a backup file. Everything stays in your browser — no account or sync required.
Is my data saved?
All data is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. It persists between sessions but does not sync across devices or browsers. Export a backup if you want to move it.
